Time To Crown Champions! IHSA Class 3A And 4A State Semfinal Action Set For Today With The Crowning Of The State Champions Set For Tomorrow Afternoon And Evening Chicago Hoops March 19, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com The 2009-10 high school basketball season in the state of Illinois is set to wrap up this weekend with the crowing of both the IHSA Class 3A and 4A state champions. Class 3A semifinal action will tip-off this afternoon, with 4A semifinal action taking place tonight. Defending Class 3A state champion Champaign Centennial, and defending Class 4A state champion Chicago Whitney Young are both still alive, and will both face difficult roads if they are to repeat. Centennial will play a Hillcrest team this afternoon that will be looking to avenge an 81-65 February loss to Centennial. Whitney Young will have an even bigger task as they must face a Waukegan team that they defeated in last year's Class 4A state championship game. Chicago Marshall, the 2008 Class 3A state champion, will tip-off the action this afternoon at 12:15 p.m. when they battle 29-2 Peoria Richwoods. The Champaign Centennial/Hillcrest match-up will take place immediately following that game at 2:00 p.m. Chicago Simeon, which won back-to-back state titles in 2006 and 2007, and was the Class 3A state runner-up in 2008, will take on O'Fallon Township High School at 6:30 p.m. in the first Class 4A semifinal game. O'Fallon finished as the Class 3A state runner-up to Simeon in 2007. Whitney Young and Waukegan will then square off in the other semifinal at 8:15 p.m. IHSA Class 3A State Semifinals 12:15 p.m. Chicago Marshall vs. Peoria Richwoods 2:00 p.m. Champaign Centennial vs. Hillcrest IHSA Class 4A State Semifinals 6:30 p.m. Chicago Simeon vs. O'Fallon Township 8:15 p.m. Chicago Whitney Young vs. Waukegan |
