Class of 2012 Chicago Simeon star Steve Taylor is ready to capitalize on a tremendous individual showing on the spring and summer travel team circuit, and is ready to step up for a Simeon team looking to repeat as state champions. Taylor rates as one of the elite 2012 prospects in the state of Illinois.

Taylor, a 6'7" power forward, is a highly athletic frontcourt force who has the ability to take over games on both ends of the basketball court. Taylor is extremely quick off the floor, and established himself as one of the top rebounders in the state of Illinois regardless of class with his strong play this spring and summer.

“I feel that my summer went really well because people really got to see who I was and what my game is about. College coaches got to see how well I can play, and I kind of made a good name for myself. I’m kind of on the map a bit, but as a team we were terrible because we didn’t win any tournaments and could have done a lot better overall.”

Taylor, who picked up scholarship offers from both Northwestern and Southern Illinois while playing for the 16-U Mac Irvin Fire in July, has a host of schools recruiting him. “Right now the schools are that are on me are SIU, DePaul, Northwestern, New Mexico, Dayton, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Detroit, and TCU,” said Taylor.

Taylor is preparing to do all he can to help Simeon repeat as state champs. “I’m looking forward to this fall without a doubt. I’m just going to keep working hard, playing hard, and take care of my books in the classroom. Hopefully all the hard work will prepare us to repeat as state champions. I hope my upcoming season goes as well as my summer.”

Taylor is also set to take over as the ChicagoHoops.com #1-ranked Class of 2012 basketball prospect in the state of Illinois when the rankings are updated later today.
