Class Of 2009 Chicago St. Rita Star Terry Johnson, Jr. Of The 17-U Mac Irvin Fire Picks Up A Mid-American Conference Scholarship Offer From Miami (Ohio)
Class of 2009 Chicago St. Rita star Terry Johnson, Jr. of the 17-U Mac Irvin Fire has picked up a Mid-American Conference scholarship offer from Miami (Ohio) University. Johnson rates as one of the top 2009 prospects in the state of Illinois.
Johnson, a 6'0" point guard, is a superb basketball talent who excels with his ability to get points from pretty much anywhere on the floor. Johnson put himself on the map statewide after a strong sophomore year at Seton Academy. He followed that up with an even stronger performance as a junior last year at St. Rita.
In addition to his basketball resume, Johnson is an outstanding student in the classroom, and has caught the attention of a number of Patriot League schools including Holy Cross and Bucknell, as well as several Ivy League programs. Illinois State has also long been in hot pursuit of Johnson, who is poised for a monster senior season on the basketball court.
Miami not only brings a strong basketball tradition, but a strong academic reputation as well, and the school has long been in the mix for sizzling-hot Lake Forest High School star Matt Vogrich of Full Package Athletics.
Despite being slowed by injury in July, Johnson spent the spring and summer starring for a 17-U Mac Irvin Fire team that won the Spiece Run N' Slam, Chicago Summer Classic and also the Desert Duel Memorial Classic this year. The team also went to the final four at the Main Event in July.
