Class of 2012 star Fred Van Vleet of Rockford Auburn may just be a sophomore, but he has taken control as the leader of a young and talented team, and has solidfied his position as one of the top Class of 2012 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Van Vleet, a 5'11" point guard, is a silky-smooth backcourt talent who excels with his ability to run a team. Van Vleet delivers by combining a strong handle on the basketball with advanced floor vision and passing skills. On the season, Van Vleet is averaging better than 15 points and 7 assists per contest while running the show for a 16-8 Auburn team.

Van Vleet, who scored 33 points against Rockford Jefferson last Saturday, has been happy with the way that Rockford Auburn has played this season. "It's been good so far. We are 16-8 with a young team and we are surprising a lot of people this season," said Van Vleet.

Van Vleet is looking forward to the postseason. "The first goal is just trying to get the regional championship, but after that we'll just see how far we can go. Still, even winning regional's would be more than most people expect from us," said Van Vleet.

Van Vleet, who already holds a scholarship offer from Northern Illinois University, has a host of schools, including the likes of DePaul, Illinois and Wisconsin tracking him on the basketball court, and is certain to continue to see his list of suitors grow.

Van Vleet competes on the travel team circuit with PrymeTyme.

Van Vleet, and his Rockford Auburn teammates will be in action again this Friday at Rockford Guilford.
