Double-Double! Class Of 2010 Galesburg Star Victor Davis Of The Peoria Irish Is Putting Up Very Strong Numbers On The Hardwood Cavan Walsh January 7, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Class of 2010 Galesburg star Victor Davis is in the midst of a very strong senior year on the basketball court, and is a double-double waiting to happen every time he hits the floor. Davis rates as one of the top Class of 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Davis, a 6'5" power forward, is a true blue-collar performer inside who excels with his ability to rebound and score inside. Davis turned heads early this year with a 40-point, 22-rebound effort against Charleston, and has continued to play strong despite now attracting lots of attention from opposing defenders. Davis feels good about how he has played thus far, but wants to guide his team to a stronger showing in the seoond half of the season. “It’s going pretty good for me as we speak, but average for our team overall. We have a seven wins and seven losses right now and five of those losses have all came at the hands of a ranked opponent. Right now, I’m averaging around 20 points and about 12 rebounds a game. After the 40-point game against Charleston, I’ve seen more double teams, and I’ve had to make more jump shots than drives. I made the All-Tournament teams at the Christmas Tournament in Charleston, and at our Thanksgiving Tournament in Galesburg,” said Davis. In terms of recruiting, Davis is hearing from a steady stream of schools at varying levels. “I’ve visited Eastern Illinois, met with the coaches at WIU, Cal-Poly called me, and Army, Lewis, and Southwest Minnesota State have all shown lots of interest. I’ve also received interest from division three schools, mostly CCIW schools. Quincy University is still there as well," said Davis. Davis, who is also a strong student in the classroom, has no favorite school, and plans to make a collegiate decision in the spring. Davis also noted, “I’m looking for an education and a great basketball program. I also like a school that has the community interested in the team.” |
