17-U Illinois Wolves Lose Conrad Krutwig And Joseph Bertrand To Injuries, Still Beat Dallas Mustangs To Go 2-0 In Pool Play At Reebok Summer Championships
The 17-U Illinois Wolves lost both Conrad Krutwig (Jacobs) and Illinois-bound Joseph Bertrand (Sterling) to injuries, but it made no difference as the team racked up a 59-47 win over the Dallas Mustangs to move to 2-0 in pool play at the Reebok Summer Championships.
Krutwig, a 6'6" forward who is having a strong run on the travel team circuit, suffered a knee injury after enduring a knee-to-knee collision. Bertrand went down with a twisted ankle. Bertrand's ankle has slowed him throughout the travel team circuit this spring and summer.
Against the Mustangs, Wisconsin-bound Diamond Taylor (Bolingbrook) picked up the slack with a 17-point effort. He was backed up by 13 points from Alex Dragicevich (Glenbrook North), 12 points from John Wilkens and 11 points from Brian Conway (Bloom Township).
The 16-U Wolves are also 2-0 with Wayne Simon (Fenwick), Rahjan Muhammad (Neuqua Valley), Chasson Randle (Rock Island), Brandon Carr (St. Joseph) and Rob Wennington (Loyola Academy) leading the way.
