Class of 2004 Verbal Commitments
Chicago Hoops Updated November 6, 2003 Here is a look at the Illinois Class of 2004 basketball prospects that have already made verbal commitments to Division I schools. Todd Babbington 6-6 Shooting Guard Prairie Ridge Verbally committed to Austin Peay. Big time shooter with range. Player who saw his stock rise over the summer. Nice upside. Will be a nice addition to an Austin Peay team that has relied on its defense over the past couple of seasons. Kyle Carrabine 6-7 Shooting Guard Neuqua Valley Verbally committed to William & Mary. Excellent size. A shooter with range out beyond the three-point arc. Still growing? The first recruit of the 2004 season for William & Mary. Justin Cerasoli 6-4 Point Guard West Aurora Verbally committed to Seton Hall. Combines size with strong offensive skill package. Cerasoli has a strong handle, excellent court vision and a jumper with range out beyond the 3-point arc. Stock soared nationally with a strong summer on the AAU circuit. Frank Clair 6-5 Small Forward Chicago Leo Verbally committed to Northern Illinois. Nice upside potential. Long, athletic and versatile. Gets things done on both ends of the floor. Could pay big future dividends for NIU. Jeremy Crouch Pekin 6-4 Shooting Guard Verbally committed to Bradley. Nice all-around skill package. Solid basketball IQ. Good handle. Can shoot with range. Does some of everything on the floor. Should fit in nicely with a Bradley team looking to rebuild itself into strong basketball factor. Justin Dentmon Carbondale 6-0 Point Guard Verbally committed to Illinois State. Super-quick point guard with a solid offensive skill package. Very nice get for Illinois State. Dentmon becomes the first Redbird recruit for new head coach Porter Moser. Jeremy Fears Joliet Township 6-3 Guard Verbally committed to Ohio. Stellar athlete who brings a great deal of versatility to the basketball court. Can play the 1, 2 or the 3 spot. Strong and very athletic. Has a chance to be an outstanding recruiting pickup for Ohio. Kenny George Chicago Latin School 7-3 Center Verbally committed to Valparaiso. Highly imposing defensive prescence. Averaged better than 8 blocks shots per contest as a junior. Still very raw offensively. Stamina continues to improve. Not likely to be a factor immediately. However, Valpo welcomes 6-10, 290-pound center/power forward Kenny Harris this year, and could erect a massive future frontline with George and Harris. Matt Hagen Pekin 6-9 Center/Power Forward Verbally committed to Rice. Excellent size! Now fully healthy after being slowed by injuries the past two seasons. Really came on strong during the second half of last season. Solid rebounder and scorer inside. Could be poised for a big senior season. Kyle Lasek Moline 6-9 Center Verbally committed to Western Illinois. A very active and mobile player. Has added some needed bulk to his frame. A very capable rebounder. Has some upside potential. Bolstered his stock with solid play this summer. Brandon Lee Peoria Central 6-1 Guard Verbally committed to Northwestern. A combination guard. Versatile performer. Does some of everything on the floor. A strong finisher who shoots with range out to the 3-point arc. A solid and aggressive defensive player. Boosted his stock with a strong summer of play. Shaun Livingston Peoria Central 6-6 Point Guard Verbally committed to Duke. The top-rated point guard in the United States. Incredible basketball skills and instincts. A superb passer. Nothing short of sensational in transition. Jarryd Loyd Niles West 5-10 Point Guard Verbally committed to Valparaiso. Super-quick and highly efficient floor general. Knows how to run an offense. A solid penetrator, and an aggressive on-the-ball defender. Should make a very nice fit at Valparaiso. Trent Meacham Champaign Centennial 6-1 Point Guard Verbally committed to Dayton. A solid and steady floor leader who saw his stock rise dramatically with a strong summer on the AAU circuit. An excellent shooter and ballhandler. A key component of a very strong recruiting class by Dayton. Zach Pancratz Schaumburg 6-3 Shooting Guard Verbally committed to Northern Illinois. A big time shooter with a knack for rising up in big games. Shoots with both range and accuracy. With added weight and muscle could develop into a very nice collegian. Xavier Price Belleville West 6-4 Shooting Guard Verbally committed to Purdue. A big time athlete. An explosive slasher. A very active player on the basketball court. A Top 100 – 125 recruit nationally who could become a solid Top 100 player with a strong senior season. A player with a nice upside who should fit well into the Purdue system. Could develop into a very good Big 10 player. Shaun Pruitt West Aurora 6-9 Power Forward Verbally committed to Illinois. The top Class of 2004 post player in the state of Illinois. Big and strong. Can bang inside, and also step back shoot mid-range jumpers with accuracy. Should solidify the post for Illinois for four years. Craig Reichel Schaumburg 6-8 Power Forward Verbally committed to Northern Illinois. Versatile big man with a sweet stroke from the floor. Big body and nice fundamentals. Left-hander is part of what is shaping into a nice 2004 recruiting class for Northern Illinois. Jason Richards Barrington 6-1 Point Guard Verbally committed to Davidson. Solid all-around game. An outstanding shooter. One of the highest scoring point guards in the state. Strong addition a fast-rising Davidson basketball program. Matt Shaw Centralia 6-6 Power Forward Verbally committed to Southern Illinois. Tough, hard-nosed player with a knack for getting his hands on the ball inside. Extremely polished and efficient in the post. A strong, local addition to the Southern Illinois basketball program. Eric Vierneisel Jacobs 6-7 Small Forward Verbally committed to California. Versatile player capable of getting things done inside and outside. Solid all-around skills. Can shoot with range. Good handle. Good rebounder. Part of a very strong California recruiting effort over the past couple of seasons. Dustin Warfield Peoria Central 6-6 Forward Verbally committed to Lewis University. Versatile lefty capable of mixing it up inside, and stepping out and knocking down jumpers outside. A recruiting coup for Division II Lewis. Gordon Watt Evanston 6-6 Small Forward Verbally committed to Boston College. A strong and athletic player on the basketball court. A true menace on the glass. A chance to be an impact player in the Big East if his perimeter skills continue to improve. DeAaron Williams Limestone 6-5 Guard/Forward Verbally committed to Wisconsin. A highly athletic and explosive player. Loves to slash to the hole. An unselfish player who can put the ball on the floor. Has all the necessary tools to develop into a standout defender. A Top 100 player nationally. Mick Yelovich Mt. Zion 6-9 Center/Power Forward Verbally committed to Indiana State. Big, strong and fairly mobile. Plays within himself. A solid rebounder and low post scorer. Can run the floor. Boosted his stock with a solid summer on the AAU circuit. |
