Jeffers Earns Chicago Hoops Public League Player of Year Title

Hubbard’s Othyus is the Chicago Hoops.com 2002-03 Chicago Public League Player of the Year. Jeffers edged out Jamarcus Ellis from Westinghouse for the Player of the Year honor.

Jeffers is joined on the the first team by Ellis, Anthony Harris (Whitney Young), Florentino Valencia (Crane) and DaShawn Walker (Simeon). Jeffers averages of 26 points and 18 rebounds per game put him close to the top of the POY list. However, his 26 points and 15 rebounds in a head-to-head match up against Valencia and Lorenzo Thompson of Crane in the Public League tournament sealed the deal for Jeffers winning the award.
