October 13, 2003

Evanston’s Gordon Watt has made a verbal commitment to play basketball for Boston College. Watt ranks as one of the Top 15 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois for the Class of 2004.

Watt, a 6-6 small forward, committed to Boston College after visiting the campus this weekend. Watt becomes the third Class of 2004 Chicago area basketball prospect to verbal to a Big East school. However, over the weekend, Boston College tentatively agreed to join the Atlantic Coast Conference. Previously, West Aurora’s Justin Cerasoli (Seton Hall) and Chicago Farragut’s Ollie Bailey (Rutgers) gave Big East verbals.

Watt, a strong and powerful athlete on the court, is a player with a good deal of upside potential to his game. Watt competed on the summer AAU circuit with the Illinois Wolves.
