Chicago North Lawdale’s Jimmy Williams is showing big time skills on the basketball court. Williams is fast establishing himself as one of the better uncommitted shooting guards class of 2004 shooting guards in the state of Illinois.

Williams who stands 6-4, is nothing short of lethal one-on-one. Williams has a strong handle, and is an outstanding finisher around the basket. He is an active defender, and uses both his size and athleticism to make plays on both ends of the floor. Last year, Williams averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per contest. This year, Williams is averaging 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists for a team that is currently 10-0.

Williams put his skills on full display last Saturday in a game against Rock Island Alleman, and 6-8 center Lance Young. Williams was named game MVP after scoring 19 points, grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists in leading North Lawdale to victory.

Williams told Chicago Hoops that he is working hard to improve all aspects of his game on the basketball court. He feels the strongest part of his game is his ability to break down a defender. Williams has generated interest from both UIC and North Dakota. That list is certain to expand as schools begin to hear more about Williams’ skills on the basketball court.

Williams, and North Lawndale Prep will be in action this weekend against Chicago Dunbar at King High School.
