Ollie Bailey: A Warrior Inside

Brian Stinnette
February 19, 2003

Farragut power forward Ollie Bailey has developed into a true warrior in the paint. He has established himself as one of the better post prospects in the state of Illinois for the Class of 2004.

Bailey, a 6-7 junior strongman, is the latest in a long line of star power forwards produced by Chicago Farragut. The Farragut program, one of the best in the state of Illinois, has produced Kevin Garnett, Michael Wright and Elliott Poole. Bailey is the school’s latest interior gem.

Bailey is a true post player who enjoys mixing it up inside, and giving a 100% effort. Despite not being a great leaper, Bailey is both an above average rebounder and shot blocker. He is relentless on the glass.

Offensively, Bailey is still developing his skills. He seldom strays very far away from the basket. He gets a lot of points off of put-backs from misses by his teammates. He will be dangerous once he develops a go-to move down low, and a consistent jumper from 10-12 feet.

A number of schools are showing interest in Bailey including Depaul, Marquette and the University of Illinois-Chicago. However, interest in Bailey could increase with a strong summer of AAU competition. Shaun Pruitt, Gordon Watt and Frank Clair are among Bailey’s AAU teammates.
