New England Prep School Brewster Academy Loves Illinois Players
Chicago Hoops April 27, 2003 A number of former Illinois high school stars have discovered that New England Prep School Brewster Academy, is an ideal springboard to Division I college basketball. Illinois products Armon Gates (Kent State), Roderick Middleton (Buffalo) and Blake Schlib (Loyola) are among the players who have found Division I homes via Brewster. Brewster head coach Jason Smith told Chicago Hoops that his program loves Illinois kids. North Carolina, Michigan, Cincinnati, Boston College and Providence are among the schools that have signed Brewster players. This year alone, more than 75 schools have visited the Brewster campus to see players. Next year, Brewster returns 6-0 combo guard Deion James, 6-5 shooting guard Joel Smith and 6-6 wing Norman Plummer from a team that finished with a 19-12 record. DePaul is among the schools showing interest in Smith. Look for Brewster to continue to be well represented with Illinois players next season. Marian Catholic point guard Cedrick Middleton, brother of Roderick, is already on board. He is expected to be joined by West Aurora forward Michael Binns and St. Ignatius post Coley LeClair. |
