Bynum Should Fit At Georgia Tech

Chicago Hoops
January 15, 2003

Former Chicago Crane star Will Bynum, who is transferring to Georgia Tech from Arizona, should be a good fit with the Yellow Jackets.

Bynum, a 5-11 guard, averaged just under 8 points per game at Arizona. He will be eligible to play for Georgia Tech at the end of the fall semester next year.

Georgia Tech was one of the schools that Bynum visited when he was a senior at Crane High School, and one of the the better prep guards in the country. Speculation had centered on Bynum joining former high school teammate Tony Allen at Oklahoma State. Allen is playing extremely well for OSU after transferring in from Wabash Valley (IL) Junior College.

Bynum will join a Georgia Tech backcourt that already includes junior Marvin Lewis and sophomore B. J. Elder. Lewis and Elder are both known for their long range shooting. Freshman Jarrett Jack gets heavy minutes at point guard.

The key to Georgia Tech’s success next year will heavily depend on whether or not 6-10 freshman post Chris Bosh does not head to the NBA. Bosh is drawing heavy interest from NBA scouts.
