Chicago Simeon’s Calvin Brock could become a hot commodity this season. Brock has opted to wait until the spring to sign, and could see his list of college suitors grow quickly. He is the second-highest ranked uncommitted prospect in the state of Illinois.
Brock, a 6-5 small forward, is a big time leaper. Long and thin, Brock is a stellar athlete with solid rebounding skills. Brock has a soft touch on his jumper, and range that extends out to the three-point arc. Once Brock gets stronger, and tightens up his handle, he has a chance to become a serious offensive weapon on the next level.
Last year, Brock had a breakout season. He teamed with DaShawn Walker to form one of the top duo’s in the Chicagoland area. Over the summer, Brock starred for Chicago-based AAU powerhouse Old Gold. This year, Brock will lead a Simeon team that should be one of the best in the Chicago Public League.
Brock is on the radar screen of a number of schools. Western Illinois and Toledo were among the schools showering Brock with attention. However, his stock has a chance to soar during the high school season, and his list of suitors is likely to grow quite long. In addition to being a standout on the basketball court, Brock was also a CPL All-Academic team member.
