Justin Cerasoli Is A Rising Star
Chicago Hoops February 13, 2003 Justin Cerasoli is a rising star. The West Aurora point guard is poised to see his stock surge nationally as a Class of 2004 basketball prospect. Cerasoli, who stands 6-4, is a true point guard. The junior transferred to West Aurora after starting as a sophomore at Providence St. Mel. Cerasoli has one of the best handles in the state of Illinois. Offensively, Cerasoli has range out beyond the three-point arc. However, his jumper can be a bit streaky at times. Defensively, Cerasoli likes to use his long arms to poke away steals. Nationally, Cerasoli began to get attention with a 27 point effort against nationally ranked Seattle Rainier Beach. He is in position to garner a good deal more attention nationally with a strong spring and summer. His size and point guard skills are difficult to ignore. A number of high major programs already have Cerasoli on their radar screen. DePaul is making a strong bid to secure his services. However, Ohio State, Seton Hall and North Carolina State are among the schools hot on Cerasoli’s trail. Ohio State has actively been trying to recruit the Chicagoland area recently. Last year, the Buckeyes signed Charles Bass from Crete-Monee, and had a verbal from Aaron Spears of Chicago Dunbar. Spears ultimately opted to sign with Illinois. Cerasoli is the Buckeyes latest Chicagoland effort. |
