Friday in Decatur, Peoria Central’s Shaun Livingston, and Joliet’s Jeremy Fears, two of the top point guards in the state, will square off on the basketball court. Livingston, the top-rated point guard in the United States, is a Duke basketball recruit, while Fears has signed to play for Ohio University.

Fears, who stands 6-3, is a superb athlete. Fears opened the season with a 34 point effort against Decatur MacArthur on Tuesday. The 6-6 Livingston scored 15 points and dished out 4 assists in Central’s 88-50 romp over Mount Zion and Mick Yelovich, an Indiana State recruit.

The Decatur Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament, which is being played at Miliken University, also features Bartonville Limestone and DeAaron Williams. Williams has signed to play next year for the University of Wisconsin. The winner of Joliet/Peoria Central will likely meet Limestone for the championship. Last year, Limestone handed Peoria Central it’s only defeat of the season in Decatur.
