DePaul recruit Dorell Wright, one of the top basektball prospects in the United States has decided to test the waters of the NBA draft. Wright will not sign an agent, and thus retain his collegiate eligibility should he not be happy with his projected draft position.
Wright, a 6-8 shooting guard, is the gem of the DePaul 2004 recruiting class. Along with J.R. Smith, Wright ranks as one of the Top 2 prep school prospects in the United States. He was expected to play a central role for DePaul next year as a freshman.
Wright says that he will drop out of the draft, and attend DePaul if he is not projected among the Top 20 picks in the draft. However, Wright’s size, skill and athleticism makes him a prime NBA candidate. He could develop into an offensive star within a few years, and is a prime target for a playoff team with a low draft position looking to take a gamble on a player with a good deal of future potential.
