Tommie Liddell (East St. Louis), the #4-rated ChicagoHoops.com Class of 2004 prospect was highly impressive recently at the Charlie Weber Tourney in Washington D.C. Liddell, a Saint Louis recruit who could be a prep school candidate, is quietly generating a good deal of buzz nationally.

Liddell, a 6-5 point guard, pumped in 32 points in his team’s opening game, and had college coaches clamoring to find information on him. Liddell played in the tournament with Team Detroit.

Liddell has yet to receive a qualifying ACT score. At this point, Liddell appears to be a long shot to qualify, and this fact has some Big 10 coaches quietly inquiring about Liddell’s services. According to one Team Detroit official, several high profile prep schools are very much interested in bringing him on board. Hargrave Military Academy head coach Kevin Keatts, who’s team is coming off a 25-1 season, is said to have inquired about Liddell’s position in the event he attends Hargrave.

Liddell posted averages of 17ppg, 9rpg, and 5apg for a team that finished 26-5, and made an appearance in the IHSA Sweet 16. Liddell seemed to be at his best when matched against the best. In games vs Belleville West (2 games), St Louis Vashon, and Carbondale, Liddell posted a combined average of 22.5 points and 9.7 rebounds. A gifted passer and defender, Liddell’s signing by SLU was one of the major coups of the early signing period.
