Senior guard Stephon Hannah, who came close to moving to Texas over the summer, has Chicago Hyde Park basketball team on a roll. Hyde Park has opened the season with upset wins over Crane and Farragut in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tournament.
Hannah, a 6-0 shooting guard, has led the Hyde Park charge with his outside shooting. Hannah, who legitimately has shooting range out beyond the NBA three-point arc, was next to unstoppable in Hyde Park’s opening victories. His shooting opened up the floor, and allowed Hassan Ali and Wayne Robinson the space they needed to do some further damage. Hannah, Ali and Robinson have doubled as teammates the past few summers for Chicago-based AAU powerhouse Old Gold.
After taking out Chicago Crane which features sophomore stud Sherron Collins, and Chicago Farragut which features Rutgers-bound Ollie Bailey, Hyde Park will look to slay another giant when they face Jamarcus Ellis and Chicago Westinghouse on Tuesday for the Blue Cross Blue Shield championship.
