Scouting Report: Anthony Harris
Chicago Hoops March 12, 2003 Chicago Whitney Young’s Anthony Harris is one of the top offensive weapons in Illinois high school basketball. Here is a scouting report on the uncommitted seniors’ game on the basketball court. Harris stands 6-1, and is more of a combination guard presently than a true point. He may best be described as a scoring guard. The senior leads a Whitney Young team, that is again loaded with college prospects, scoring about 20 points per game. Harris is an outstanding shooter. He shoots with both range and accuracy. He is capable of lighting it up from anywhere on the floor. He recently drained 12 of 15 three-point attempts in a qualifying round for the state’s three-point shooting contest. Harris is a superb penetrator, and a solid finisher when he gets to the rack. His handle on the basketball is excellent. Harris is a good athlete, who has calves that appear to be made of stone. Anthony Harris is a highly dedicated basketball player. Aside from practicing with his team, Harris puts himself through a daily set of NBA-style drills designed to improve his basketball skills. Currently uncommitted, Harris is surrounded by Division I teammates. Dwayne Curtis (Auburn), Andre Knox (Loyola) and DeWitt Scott (Maryland-Eastern Shore) have all committed to Division I programs. Curtis is currently sidelined with a stress fracture. Recent Whitney Young products include Quentin Richardson (L.A. Clippers), Marcus White (Connecticut), Dennis Gates (California) and Ron Howard (Marquette, Valparaiso). Chicago Hoops currently ranks Harris as the #2 Class of 2003 point guard prospect in the state of Illinois, behind only Jimmie Miles of Rich Central. |
