Anthony Harris Could Contribute Immediately At Miami

Brian Stinnette
May 22, 2003

Chicago Whitney Young guard Anthony Harris, who recently signed with the University of Miami, could make an immediate contribution for the Hurricanes.

Harris, a 6-1 combo guard, ranks as one of the top offensive players in the state of Illinois. Harris is a solid penetrator who not only gets to the basket, but usually finishes as well. In addition, Harris drills jump shots with both range and accuracy.

He will join a Miami team that struggled to an 11-17 record last year. 6-2 shooting guard Robert Hite (7.5ppg), 6-3 shooting guard Erick Williams (4.4ppg) and 5-11 point guard Armondo Surratt (6.4ppg) all contributed for Miami last year as freshmen. Harris will be competing for playing time against this trio.

Miami expects to return Darius Rice, who led the team with a 19ppg average last year. The Hurricanes will be looking to replace James Jones, and the 17ppg that he brought to the table.
