7’0 Sophomore Clarence Holloway Shows Potential
Brian Stinnette April 1, 2003 7’0 Chicago Fenger sophomore center Clarence Holloway shows the potential to become a difference maker inside. Holloway, a true 7-footer, teams inside with 6’7 Jeremiah Bryant, to give Fenger an imposing inside tandem. He missed a large portion of this past season with a stress fracture. Holloway is very much a work in progress. However, he has all the necessary tools to become a real factor inside. He has a big body and soft hands. He also still may grow another inch or two. Despite being rusty, Holloway showed an improved ability to establish position inside, and a greater willingness to finish around the basket during his spring debut Monday night at the Centurion Classic. He also displayed a nice touch from the free throw line. However, Holloway must become more of a dominant rebounder and shot blocker inside. He has to make better use his size to shut down the lane. Holloway’s size alone has put him on the radar screen of a number of Division I basketball programs. Holloway’s progress as a player will be watched closely. He has the potential to develop into one of the better prospects in the state of Illinois for the Class of 2005. |
