Brown Only Illinois McDonald’s Game Lock

Chicago Hoops
February 4, 2003

Proviso East’s Shannon Brown is the only senior in the state of Illinois who can be considered a lock to make the McDonald’s All-American Game. Although Peoria Notre Dame’s Brian Randle and Springfield Lanphier’s Richard McBride will both draw a fair amount of consideration.

Last year, Dee Brown (Proviso East), Sean Dockery (Chicago Julian) and Michael Thompson (Providence) represented the state of Illinois in the game. Springfield Lanphier’s Andre Iguodala should have been on the squad.

The high-flying Brown, who has signed to play next year for Michigan State, is considered by many to be the top shooting guard in the country. Brown developed a national reputation the past couple of summers playing for the Illinois Warriors AAU team.

Randle and McBride have both signed to play next year for the University of Illinois. They also teamed up over the summer playing AAU basketball with Ft. Sooy No Limit! Both players rank among the Top 50 nationally for the Class of 2003.

The McDonalds All-American team rosters will be announced on ESPN Sports Center on February 27. The game will be played Wednesday, March 27 at Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
