Marquette Inks Another Illinois Native

May 8, 2003

The Marquette Golden Eagles, who have had great success recruiting in the state of Illinois, have inked Juco standout Marcus Jackson, a native of Peoria, Illinois.

Jackson, a 6-8 power forward, played his high school basketball at Peoria Richwoods. He played the past two seasons at South Plains Junior College in Texas.

Jackson is a rebounding machine. He averaged better than 9 rebounds per contest this year en route to being named Conference MVP. Jackson originally signed with the University of Georgia before gaining a release after Jim Harrick was let go.

Jackson will join a Marquette recruiting class that already includes West Aurora’s Dameon Mason. They will join a Marquette roster that already includes Illinois natives Joe Chapman and Todd Townsend, and just lost Dwyane Wade to the NBA.
