Former Rich Central star Jimmie Miles is contributing quality minutes off the bench for Valparaiso. Miles, who was one of the Top 5 Class of 2004 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois last year, was a recruiting coup for Valpo.
Through three games, Miles, a 6-3 guard, is averaging 8.3 points while playing nearly 21 minutes per game. He is shooting 55% from the field, and 45% from behind the three-point arc. Valparaiso currently has a 1-2 record.
Miles is part of a highly celebrated freshman class at Valpo which also includes 6-10 center Kenny Harris, and 6-6 small forward Oumar Sylla. Thus far, Miles has been the star of the freshman group. Former Chicago Whitney Young star Ron Howard is also playing for the Crusaders after transferring into the program from Marquette.
