Independence (KS) Community College has landed Chicago North Lawndale’s Jimmy Williams. Williams ranks among the Top 30 ChicagoHoops.com Class of 2004 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.
Williams, a 6-4 shooting guard, had a stellar season for North Lawndale. Williams averaged better than 22 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per contest this year en route to being a Class A All-State selection. North Lawndale’s season ended with a hard-fought overtime loss to eventual state champion Chicago Leo in the Class A state tournament.
Williams is a big time slasher with a soft touch on his jumper. Independence will give Williams every opportunity to step in and play a big role immediately. Williams is looking to sharpen his point guard skills, which will further enhance his stock as a college prospect in the future.
Independence competes in the Jayhawk Conference which ranks among the toughest junior college conferences in the country. The Jayhawk Conference is a “Division I Factory”. Williams will see some familiar faces in the Jayhawk. Colby Community College has signed J.J. Watson (Chicago Julian), Lorenzo Ecford (Chicago Julian) and Tyrone Brazelton (Rich Central) for next year.
