Indiana is continuing it’s pursuit of Homewood-Flossmoor’s Julian Wright, the #1 Class of 2005 prospect in the state of Illinois. Last week, Indiana head coach Mike Davis paid a visit to Homewood-Flossmoor High School. Davis, who prior to losing Josh Smith to the NBA, recruited the #1 Class in the country for 2004, clearly has Wright in his sights.

Since Mike Davis took over the reigns at Indiana, the Hoosiers have stepped up their level of interest in Illinois-based recruits. In 2004, the Hoosiers actively pursued both Shaun Pruitt (West Aurora), and DeAaron Williams (Limestone). The Hoosiers ultimately ended up with what initially was the #1 recruiting class in country for 2004. Davis and the Hoosiers are now back in 2005 with Wright as their primary target.

The 6-8 Wright, best described as a “point” forward, could be an ideal fit for the Indiana system under Davis which typically showcases long, athletic and versatile forwards. The Hoosier’s had signed Josh Smith, the top Class of 2004 small forward in the country, before he opted for the NBA last week.

Last week, Davis paid a visit to Wright at Homewood-Flossmoor High School during open gym. Over the weekend, Davis was able to check out Wright at the Kingwood Classic in Houston, Texas. Davis is expected back in Homewood this week, quite possibly today, to meet with Wright, and his mother.

Illinois, DePaul, Arizona, Duke and Kansas are also in the hunt for Wright’s services.
