David Kleinschmidt Looking To Add Point Guard Skills

Brian Stinnette
May 27, 2003

St. Patrick’s David Kleinschmidt, a shooter with a soft touch from long range, is looking to add point guard skills to his overall game.

Kleinschmidt, who stands 6-2, was one of the primary offensive weapons utilized by a St. Patrick team that finished the season with a 24-4 record. Next year, the team will bring back four starters, and will be looking to make a strong tournament run in March.

Although he has primarily played the off guard slot, Kleinschmidt told Chicago Hoops that he is looking to be a point guard on the next level. He is placing strong emphasis this summer on getting stronger and working on his ballhandling.

Right now he feels that his shooting ability is the strongest part of his game. Like his older brother Tom, a former star at DePaul, Kleinschmidt has a knack for knocking down jumpers in the clutch.

Look for David Kleinschmidt and St. Patrick to both be household names when the 2003-04 basketball season rolls around.
