Chicago Lincoln Park head coach Cyrus McGinnis has been promoted to the position of Chicago Public League Boys Basketball Coordinator, Sports Supervisor. His promotion leaves a coaching vacancy at Lincoln Park, a team which last season was loaded with freshman and sophomore talent.

5-10 freshman guard Michael Thompson, 6-3 freshman point guard Jonathon Montgomery and 6-6 freshman power forward Jelani Poston all rank among the Top 20 Class of 2007 prospects in the state of Illinois. All three made significant contributions on a young Lincoln Park team that closed the season with a strong Public League Tournament run.

At least one very high profile coach is rumored to be interested in the position. If Lincoln Park can keep their roster in tact after the coaching change, they could be in position to break into the upper echelon of Public League programs for years to come, and will be a year away from being a legitimate state title contender.
