Jim Maley Leaves Northwestern Basketball Team
Chicago Hoops February 26, 2003 Former Lyons Township basketball star Jim Maley has decided to leave the Northwestern University basketball team. The door is still open for Maley to return to the team should he change his mind. Maley made a name for himself during the 2001 state tournament when he led Lyons to a surprising run into the Final Four of the tournament. Among Lyons’ tournament victims was Proviso East. Their run ended with a one point loss to eventual state champion Schaumburg. Maley, a 6-7 freshman shooting guard, was a three-point shooting specialist for Northwestern. His minutes had been reduced dramatically during the second half of the season. Maley chose Northwestern over Penn State as a high school senior. |
