Leyden’s Marcus Green, a Class of 2005 prospect, is rising fast. Green, who has only been playing basketball for a few years, has now cracked the Top 12 of the ChicagoHoops.com ranking of top 2005 prospects in the state of Illinois.

Green, a 6-4 guard/forward is one of the most explosive athletes in the Class of 2005. He is strong, extremely athletic and plays hard on both ends of the floor.

Green is intriguing as a basketball prospect. He has only been playing a few years, and has come a long, long way during that time. However, the more he plays, the better he gets! Matt Ryndak, Green’s AAU coach, notes that Green “loves to work”. “He doesn’t leave the gym”.

Green has a nice soft touch on his jumper with range out to the three-point arc. Green is extremely dangerous in transition, and loves to play above the rim. He is a major league dunker, fully capable of throwing one down anytime he approaches the basket. His mid-range game needs work, and Green is working hard to improve that aspect of his game, and to tighten up his handle.

The scariest aspect of Green as a prospect is the fact that his growth plate is still open, thus he could still grow another inch or two. We could be looking at a player who grows to 6-6, with great strength and athleticism. Green is a player who could see his stock soar over the summer playing on the AAU circuit with Full Package Athletics.
