Former DePaul star Paul Mcpherson, who played in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors, has signed with the Rockford Lightning. McPherson played his high school ball at Chicago South Shore.

McPherson, a 6-3 shooting guard, starred at Tallahassee Community College and Kennedy-King Community College, before arriving at DePaul. He played one season for DePaul, before declaring for the 2000 NBA draft. That year, DePaul teammate Quentin Richardson was selected in the first round of the draft while McPherson went undrafted. After a highly successful summer, the Phoenix Suns signed McPherson to a two-year guaranteed contract. He ultimately was dealt to Golden State.

McPherson’s dunking skills have made him somewhat of a legend on Chicago basketball courts. During the summer, he is one of the top attractions in the Chicago Pro-Am Summer League. He will join a roster that includes former DePaul teammate Lance Williams, and former high school rival Ronnie Fields.
