Chicago Gordon Tech’s Mike Davis is drawing big time interest from a number of high caliber basketball programs. Davis ranks as one of the top Class of 2005 frontcourt prospects in the state of Illinois.
Davis, a 6-8 power forward, is both long and athletic. He is a solid interior performer capable of dominating a game with either his scoring, rebounding or shot blocking. Davis can really run the floor, and has the athleticism and versatility to get minutes at small forward as well.
Davis told ChicagoHoops.com that right now he considers his back-to-the-basket moves, his rebounding, and his shot blocking ability as the strongest parts of his game. He is working to improve his ball handling skills, and looking to increase the range on his jump shot. In addition, Davis is also looking to improve his capablity of stepping out and defending smaller guards and forwards out on the perimeter.
Davis mentions Shaun Pruitt (West Aurora), Ollie Bailey (Chicago Farragut) and DeAndre Thomas (Chicago Westinghouse) among the toughest players that he has had to matchup against.
Davis is hearing from a number of big time programs including Connecticut, Florida State, Purdue, Louisville, Dayton, Southern Illinois, DePaul, Wisconsin, Illinois, Butler and Ball State. Southern Illinois has already offered a scholarship. Davis plays on the AAU circuit with the high-powered Illinois Wolves.
