Hales Sophomore Minnoy Overpowering Opponents

Brian Stinnette
January 13, 2003

Hales Franciscan sophomore Nate Minnoy has used a power-based mid-range game to establish himself among the top 2005 prospects in the state of Illinois.

Minnoy spent his freshman season at Mount Carmel, before transferring to Hales with standout guard Jerod Haynes. Minnoy set a freshman record at Mount Carmel by scoring 34 points in one game.

Minnoy, who stands 6-3, is a physical specimen on the basketball court. His combination of strength and agility makes him very difficult to handle when he gets the ball in the paint.

Minnoy is not just an inside player. He has a very nice mid-range game. He has a soft touch on his jumper, and can put the ball on the floor. To be a high major player collegiately, Minnoy will need his perimeter skills, since he currently projects as a small forward in college.

With Nate Minnoy leading the way, Hales Franciscan has 13 wins and just 2 losses. You can expect to hear a lot more about Nate Minnoy since Hales is one of the favorites to win the Class A state championship.
