Ousmane Barro, who was unable to play for Chicago Julian during his high school career due to the circumstances surrounding his entry as a foreign exchange student, has given an oral commitment to play basketball for Tom Crean and Marquette University.

Barro, a 6-10 center, excels on defense. He is long, athletic and brings advanced shot blocking skills to the basketball court. Offensively, Barro’s skills are still developing, but he does have the necessary skill set to develop into an above average performer on the offensive end of the floor.

Technically, Marquette is already out of basketball scholarships to offer. The Golden Eagles have already signed 7-0 center Mike Kinsella of Minneapolis Community and Technical College, and 6-8 power forward Ryan Amoroso of Burnsville (MN) High School. Adding Barro will give Marquette three quality big men as they prepare for future court battles in the Big East Conference.
