Royce Parran Is An Underrated Gem

Chicago Hoops
January 30, 2003

Chicago Lincoln Park point guard Royce Parran ranks as one of the most underrated players in the state of Illinois.

Parran, a 5’8 point guard, is one of the top players in the rugged Chicago Public League. Averaging 21 points per game, he is the main reason why Lincoln Park is 14-6, and second to only Whitney Young in the Red-Northwest Conference.

Parran is an offensive force. He has a strong handle and shoots with range. He is at his best driving to the hole and dishing off to teammates, or finishing among the trees. Parran is very difficult to handle in transition.

Division I schools have not given Parran a lot of interest. They feel he is too small. Despite his size, he is a warrior on the court, and regularly plays against high caliber guards. The Red-Northwest Conference features Anthony Harris and Andre Knox of Whitney Young, Jamarcus Ellis of Westinghouse and Jason Bowden of Prosser.
