West Aurora junior power forward Shaun Pruitt has solidified his position as one of the elite 2004 prospects in the state of Illinois with a solid summer of play.

Pruitt, who stands 6’8, is currently recovering from a broken ankle suffered during an open gym at West Aurora high school. Despite the injury, Pruitt ranks as the #2 junior in the state of Illinois, trailing only Peoria Central point guard Shaun Livingston.

The left-handed Pruitt is a solid inside player. He is adept at using his long arms to dominate opponents inside for both points and rebounds. He possesses an above average handle for a big man, and can step out and knock down 15-foot jumpers.

Pruitt ranks as the best college prospect on a high school team loaded with high major players. 6’5 senior Dameon Mason will play for Marquette next year. While fellow 2004 teammates Justin Cerasoli and Jaeh Thomas are also drawing heavy interest from major programs.

Published reports have Pruitt looking at Marquette, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and Xavier as his collegiate choices.
