Former Chicago King, and University of Wisconsin basketball star Rashard Griffith continues to play professionally overseas. Griffith is currently playing in the Italian League with Lottomatica Roma.
Griffith, a 7-0 center, played at Chicago King under legendary coach Landon “Sonny” Cox. After a stellar high school career, Griffith took his talents to the University of Wisconsin where he starred before being selected in the second round of the 1995 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Griffith opted to sign a lucrative deal with a team in Turkey rather than stay with the Bucks. He has been overseas ever since.
Griffith has played on championship teams in Turkey, Israel and Italy. This year, he is averaging 7 points, 7 rebounds and 1 blocked shot per game for Lottomatica Roma. Last summer, it did appear that Griffith was going to play in the NBA when the Orlando Magic acquired his draft rights from the Milwaukee Bucks.
