Javon Pickett Commits To Missouri As A 2018 Recruit


Belleville East High School standout Javon Pickett has committed to play at Missouri as a 2018 recruit following a postgraduate season in prep school.

Pickett, a 6’3 wing, was originally signed with Illinois as a 2017 recruit. He asked for a release following the coaching change.

Pickett averaged better than 25 points per game this past season as a senior at Belleville East.

Missouri has former Illini signee Jeremiah Tilmon heading into the program as a 2017 recruit.

Austin Richie To Play Postgraduate Season At Bosco Institute (IN)


Bloom Township standout Austin Richie has decided to do a postgraduate season at prep school heavyweight Bosco Institute (IN).

Richie, a 6’5 forward, was signed to play for Division II St. Cloud State (MN).

Richie led Bloom to the Richards 4A regional title game where he scored 36 points including 6 three-pointers in a loss to Alonzo Verge (43 points) and Thornton.

Richie joins a Don Bosco program that has had great recent success with Chicago south suburban basketball talent including Rich South’s Malik Osborne (Rice) and Lincoln-Way East’s Kyle McDermed (Western Michigan) who earned their Division I opportunities this past season.

2018 Whitney Young PG Xavier Castaneda Adds Valpo Offer


Class of 2018 Chicago Whitney Young standout Xavier Castaneda has now added a scholarship offer from Valparaiso to his collection.

Castaneda, a 6’0 point guard with strong ball-distribution skills, averaged 8.5 points and a team-high 4.9 assists per game this spring in Nike EYBL games this spring.

Miami (OH), Drake and Toledo are among recent offers for Castaneda with the likes of UIC, Kent State, Iowa State, Missouri and Tulsa among the schools that have previously offered Castaneda.

Javon Freeman-Liberty Adds Valparaiso Scholarship Offer

Class of 2018 Chicago Whitney Young standout Javon Freeman-Liberty has now added a scholarship offer from Valparaiso to his growing collection.

Freeman-Liberty, a slashing 6’4 wing, has followed up a state title run with Whitney Young with a strong run on the Nike EYBL circuit with Meanstreets. Freeman averaged 11.5 points per game for a Meanstreets team that compiled an 11-5 record this spring.

Freeman-Liberty also holds offers from Toledo, Drake and Loyola.
