The state of Illinois flexed it’s AAU muscle as the Rising Stars won both the 15-U and 16-U tournaments at the Las Vegas Easter Classic this weekend. Michael Thompson (Chicago Lincoln Park) and Jeffrey Jordan (Loyola) led the way for the 15-U squad. Kevin Bulger (Glenbrook South) and Jordan Dalton (Warren) were among the leaders for th 16-U squad.

The Rising Stars 15-U squad captured the tournament title over the high-powered Houston Hoops and Southern California All-Stars. Michael Thompson was terrific the entire tournament. Ceola Clark (Warren) was also a key contributor. Jeffrey Jordan was “awesome” in the semifinals. His performance included a thundering slam dunk in the mold of his father, Michael Jordan.

The Rising Stars run to the 16-U title included double-digit victory over the Chicago Jaguars. The Jaguars roster includes Andre Gullens (Chicago Harlan), D’Angelo McIntosh (Chicago Julian) and Jeremiah Kelly (Chicago Julian). Standouts included Kevin Bulger (Glenbrook South), Jordan Dalton (Warren), Kevin Dwyer (Hersey), Mitchell Moore (Warren) and Zach Kelly (Glenbrook North).

The 15-U Rising Stars team will be in action next weekend at the 15-U AAU state tournament.
