The third annual River War All-Star game was held over the weekend at the University of Missouri at St Louis. This is an up and coming postseason event which features some of the finest basketball talent from both sides of the river.

Missouri boasted a roster of Dwayne Polk, Kalen Grimes, Curtis Muse, and Aaron Jackson. Many from Illinois have not heard of Dwayne Polk, but he has an impressive resume. He is a 3-time Missouri state champion, and he led his team to an impressive 31-0 record this season. He dropped 38 points in the state championship game including 21 in the 3rd quarter. He will team with Tommie Liddell in St Louis University’s backcourt next year.

The team from Illinois featured Tommie Liddell(East St. Louis), Justin Dentmon (Carbondale), Xavier Price (Belleville West), and Chicago Von Stueben’s Ryne Hamblet.

This game was no contest as the boys from Illinois took home an impressive 119-106 victory. Hamblet shared MVP honors with Justin Dentmon as each scored 20 points. Tommie Liddell was impressive as always with 19 points. Xavier Price finished with 13 points. The Missouri squad was led by the aforementioned Dwayne Polk. Polk picked up right where he left off in the state championship game by scoring 37 points. This 5’9 inch point guard, like Tommie Liddell will have scouts scratching their heads as to how these talented guards got away. Dwayne Polk took home MVP honors for the Missouri team. Polk’s high school teammate Curtis Muse scored an impressive 17 points. Muse is a 6’10 inch center who is still mulling scholarship offers.
