Peoria Central’s Ruffin Verbals To Bradley

Chicago Hoops
February 25, 2003

Peoria Central point guard Dan Ruffin has given a verbal commitment to Jim Les and hometown Bradley. Ruffin will join former Central teammate Marcellus Sommerville on the Bradley roster next year.

Ruffin, a 5-8 point guard current averages about 12 points and 6 assists per contest. Central is currently 21-1 and ranked #2 in the state of Illinois. Bradley hopes the additions of Ruffin and Sommerville will entice other players from basketball-rich Peoria to stay home.

Last year, as a junior, Ruffin averaged nearly 16 points per game. His scoring has taken a slight dip with the addition of highly regarded transfers Shaun Livingston and Brandon Lee. Livingston is considered one of the top point guard prospects in the country.

Ruffin chose Bradley over offers from Wisconsin-Green Bay and Southwest Missouri State.
